If you’ve been looking to pick up a new miter saw, you probably already discovered that there are literally dozens and dozens of options on the market today.
On top of that, seemingly every single one out there is going to promise you the moon and the stars when it comes to results, guaranteeing that you’ll fall in love with their equipment while simultaneously bashing everyone else’s.
That’s just the way the game is played.
However, professional carpenters, woodworkers, and other tradesmen – as well as “weekend warriors” serious about their tools – have long understood that Bosch is responsible for putting out incredible solutions without threatening to break your bank account at the same time.
Check out the rest of this Bosch PCM 7 review to determine whether or not it’s right for you!
While not exactly the “flashiest” of all the miter saw options out there, that’s not to say that the Bosch PCM 7 sliding miter saw isn’t attractive in its own right.
Following along with the pretty standard green, red, and silver color scheme and motif that Bosch products have had for a few years now, this is an attractively designed midsize miter saw perfect for entry-level work.
This sliding miter saw might not be as large as some of the other options out there, and may not be able to rip through gigantic pieces of material in the same way that larger saws can, but for finish work (or smaller projects), there might not be anything better than this.
The first thing that you’re going to notice about this Bosch miter saw is that it has a smaller blade (just 190 mm) and weighs in at right around 8 Kg – about half as heavy (and half as large) as most of the other “traditional” miter saw solutions on the market today.
And though this has probably led to some people getting scared off of using this saw in the past, like most other things out there it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!
Thanks to a very efficient 1100 W power supply that cranks out enough speed to push the blade through just about any material you throw at it like a hot knife through butter, the Bosch PCM 7 miter saw is a dream to operate.
Manufactured out of high quality aluminum (just about everywhere), it also enjoys the legendary Bosch reputation for durability you won’t find anywhere else.
The beautiful thing about the Bosch PCM 7 sliding miter saw is that it:
- Is easy enough to operate without any prior experience whatsoever
- Can handle seemingly any material thrown at it with ease
- Is easily cleaned and maintained (and can also be looked up to standardized dust extraction systems)
… And won’t set you back an arm and a leg when you purchase it!
This isn’t to say that the Bosch PCM 7 is picture-perfect.
Issues you may have to deal with include:
- A slightly smaller blade size that will require you to flip construction materials (even when you use the slide)
- Specialized tools required to swap out the blade
- It struggles a little bit when crosscutting larger pieces of material
Obviously, none of those are deal-breakers in any way whatsoever, but there are issues that you want to be aware of all the same.
There are a lot of mitre saws that you could decide to go with.
Hopefully, this Bosch PCM 7 review helps you better understand why you’d want to go in this direction, and that is brought to light all of the big benefits you’ll enjoy when you do!
